Wind blew the short cut strands of hair across her face, blurring her view of the sidewalk with yellow swirls. The air was crisp and the walkway was empty, grass curled up onto the concrete, investigating the scrabbly surface with inquisitive fronds. She looked around her at the patchy grass and the towering trees that blotched out some of the swirling grey sky. Breathing in the crisp air, she snuggled deeper into her jacket, listening to the rub of nylon as she crossed her arms against her chest. The girl looked up at the sky again, a chill of wonder running down her spine. Dim periwinkle clouds were driven on by the wind, rapidly rolling over eachother. Despite these only being fall clouds, she smiled adoringly up at them, comparing them to the oh so similar winter clouds that visted her town near Christmas time. The girl loved the expressive bottoms of the clouds. She walked, face to the sky, her bag bouncing against her thigh. Upon reaching the old rock wall, she paused and sniffed at the air like a fox. There certainly were not any pines around this area. But there it was! The soft aroma of the bristling green pines cooled her throat and nose as she inhaled deeply, closing her eyes. Uncrossing her arms she clasped her hands infront of her, a sudden warmth inside. She beamed, watching her feet strike the old cemented rocks beneath her. Let it all melt away...
