Literature Text

The sidewalk traffic had practically doubled. It was lunch time in Los Angeles and everyone was either taking a lunch break at one of the many restaurants or just returning to one. People stepped in and out of the store doors to his left and the traffic on the street to his right was packed with cars, virtually blocking his view of the store windows across the street.
Why did the questions Ms. Audum ask annoy him so? But then again, he thought, why shouldn't they? He thought about this as he walked back to his condo, book in hand. It was, he concluded halfheartedly, because of the favor being owed to Phoenix. Yes, that was it. Phoenix, the rookie lawyer that has always won his trials against him... Miles clamped his jaw shut, clenching and unclenching his free hand. Well, that was the reason that he wasn't enjoying this favor.
He was still thinking about this when the higher floors of the condominium came into view. Darkly pushing the thought to the back of his mind, he widened his stride and continued on up the street to the revolving doors of the condo lobby. The gold doors were empty, allowing him to step inside and push through them without a care for another person. The lobby manager looked up from reading to glance at Miles.  Reaching into his pocket, Miles waved a pair of keys at him.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Edgeworth." The manager smiled a fake smile as usual.
"Afternoon." Miles muttered, already on his way up the stairs. His shoes tapped busily as he jogged up the stairs, slowing down when he got to the flat surface where the stairs angled a different direction. When he reached the tenth floor, his breath was a tad heavier.
Miles tucked the labrador book under his arm, reaching into his pocket again to retrieve the keys. His room was the last on the right, making him walk past 6 rooms before he was at his own. Jiggling the key in the lock, he pressed open the door and stepped inside. Cool A/C greeted him, chilling his face. He had left the TV on, its low volume bouncing off the walls.
Miles immediately walked into the living room, laying down upon the love seat. Setting the book on his stomach, he brought his arms behind his head, stretching. He brought his hands back down, picking up the book. The prosecutor rubbed his thumb over the slick letters.
"Labradors..." He sighed.
Yes, I know I've kinda repeated the same ending. But anyway, he won't be reading really in the next chapter...
I like the beginning of the chapter. c:
